The History of Roger Dubuis

"The Daring Ones" is more than a slogan—it's the philosophy that drives Roger Dubuis. Founded in 1995, this Geneva manufacture has spent nearly three decades breaking conventions with bold designs and audacious complications.

Two Masters Unite

Roger Dubuis was founded by watchmaker Roger Dubuis himself—a former Patek Philippe craftsman—and Carlos Dias, a design entrepreneur. Their goal: create a manufacture that combined traditional haute horlogerie with daring contemporary design.

From the start, every Roger Dubuis movement bore the Poinçon de Genève (Geneva Seal), one of watchmaking's most prestigious certifications. Few brands achieve this for all their movements.

The Excalibur Icon

Introduced in 2005, the Excalibur became Roger Dubuis's signature. Its distinctive star-shaped bezel, aggressive proportions, and skeletonized movements created an instantly recognizable aesthetic. The name evokes King Arthur's legendary sword—powerful and unmistakable.

The Excalibur has hosted some of watchmaking's most extreme complications, including double and quad flying tourbillons, minute repeaters, and revolutionary Lamborghini partnership models.

Richemont and Beyond

The brand joined Richemont in 2008, gaining resources for ambitious projects. The relationship accelerated innovation, leading to partnerships with Lamborghini, Pirelli, and others that bring automotive DNA into watchmaking.

Not for Everyone

Roger Dubuis doesn't try to please everyone—and that's the point. The watches are bold, often enormous, and unashamedly attention-grabbing. For collectors who find traditional Swiss watchmaking too conservative, Roger Dubuis offers haute horlogerie with attitude.

In an industry often defined by restraint, Roger Dubuis proves that daring has its place at the highest levels of watchmaking.
