Watch Winder Guide
Watch winders keep automatic watches running when not worn.
Do You Need One?
- Yes if: You have perpetual calendars, multiple autos worn in rotation, or simply want convenience
- No if: You wear your watch daily, or don't mind resetting time
What to Look For
- TPD settings — Turns per day (most watches need 650-800)
- Direction settings — Clockwise, counter-clockwise, or both
- Quality motor — Quiet, reliable operation
- Proper cushion — Holds watch securely without stress
Brands to Consider
Wolf, Orbita, and Rapport make quality winders. Avoid very cheap options—poor motors can damage watches.
